Privacy Policy

FitSync ("the app", "we", "us") helps you copy your own health and fitness data from Fitbit — via Google's Health API — into Apple Health on your iPhone. This policy explains, plainly, what data the app touches, how it is used, and what we do not do with it.
1. The short version
- Your health data is written directly into Apple Health on your device.
- We do not run servers that store your health data.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
- You can disconnect and delete everything the app added at any time.
2. Data we access
With your explicit consent, FitSync accesses the following through the Google Health API:
- Activity & fitness (steps, distance, active energy, floors climbed)
- Heart metrics (heart rate)
- Body metrics (weight)
The app requests these using read-only Google Health API scopes. It reads this data solely to write the equivalent samples into Apple Health via Apple's HealthKit framework. FitSync also reads back only the samples it previously wrote, in order to avoid creating duplicates.
3. How your data is used
Google user data obtained through the Health API is used exclusively to provide the app's core, user-facing feature: bringing your Fitbit data into Apple Health. It is not used for any other purpose.
4. Google API Services Limited Use disclosure
FitSync's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
- We only use the data to provide and improve the app's health-sync feature.
- We do not transfer the data to third parties except as necessary to provide the feature, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger with your consent.
- We do not use the data for serving advertisements.
- We do not allow humans to read the data, unless we have your affirmative consent, it is necessary for security or to comply with law, or the data is aggregated and used for internal operations per applicable requirements.
5. Storage & retention
FitSync does not operate a backend that stores your health data. Data flows from Google's Health API to your device and is written into Apple Health, which is controlled by you and protected by iOS. Authentication tokens are stored securely in the iOS Keychain on your device. A small record of "last synced" dates is stored locally on your device to avoid re-fetching data unnecessarily.
6. Data sharing
We do not sell your data. The only parties involved in the data flow are:
- Google — the source of your Fitbit data, accessed via the Health API under your consent.
- Apple Health (HealthKit) — the destination, on your own device.
7. Your controls
- Disconnect: revoke the app's access at any time from within FitSync or from your Google Account permissions page.
- Delete synced data: use "Clear Synced Data" in the app to remove every sample FitSync wrote to Apple Health. Your other Apple Health data is untouched.
- Apple Health controls: manage or delete data directly in the Apple Health app.
8. Children
FitSync is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
